Young people are being forced to grow up very quickly which means we need to help them prepare for a healthy adulthood. At this stage of life, a young person is in the middle of what could possibly be the most traumatic period of change and development that they will go through physically, socially, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Understanding some of the changes our young people are going through will help us to support them.
Our resources are developed in a way that understands all that is going on in the world of a young person. Hundreds of churches use Rock Solid and its combination of games, interactive activities, discussions, short talks, media and more to see transformation in the lives of 11-14s as they encounter God.
Rock Solid started in the 1990s and was originally aimed at young people aged 11-14: but on the Isle of Wight it tends to attract and be aimed at 9-12 year olds (school years 5, 6, 7 and sometimes Year 8).
Rock Solid runs in school term time on Wednesday evening 6.30-7.45pm.
Rock Solid involves organised games and activities often with a theme (like “Scapegoats”, “Families” etc.) and usually features a Bible based “thought for the day”.
Rock Solid usually meets at Bembridge Methodist but sometimes makes use of local facilities e.g. St Helens Duver for wide games, Steyne Park for ball games, Tackt-Isle Adventures for water sports and Ryde Superbowl for ten pin bowling.
