Rev Frances Balham

Hi I’m Frances, I have been in the Methodist Ministry since 2000, spending the first 7 years living in the beautiful hilltop town of Shaftesbury in Dorset serving Tisbury, Fontmell Magna, Ashmore and Bell Street United, moving to the amazing Isle of Wight in 2007. I am part of a great team of colleagues, volunteers, and congregations on the island who work together to do all we can for God who wants the best for us and from us.

The island offers exciting opportunities for ministry to those who live here and to the thousands of tourists who visit each year. It’s a pleasure to walk, say hello, and listen to the stories of many of you who visit, and many return to their ‘holiday churches’ when they are here on Sundays and for a weekday cuppa and chat.

My time off is often spend walking along some of its many beaches and I often find myself smiling and repeating something I said when I first visited - “Has God really sent me here to serve Him?” - it’s a great place. I enjoy reading, gardening when I can, spending time with family and friends, and socialising.
